I was somewhat familiar with the Furies before writing this segment,<br \/>\nbut didn&#8217;t know how they came to be, or what their exact role was in mythology.<br \/>\nDo you know? If not, keep reading, the answers may surprise you.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: inherit, serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><br \/>\nThe Furies, also called the Dirae, were born from Uranus&#8217;s blood. They were the<br \/>\ngoddesses of blood vengeance. Aeschylus refers to them as the daughters of the<br \/>\nNight. They were also called the Erinyes and they make their home in<br \/>\nHades.&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;\">\n<span style=\"background-color: white;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The Eriynes are more ancient&nbsp;deities&nbsp;than any of the Olympians.Their task&nbsp;is to hear complaints brought by mortals, such as children to their aged parents, hosts to guests (which was very important to the ancient Greeks). They torment their victims, which would have been easy for them to do as they had snake-hair, bat-wings, bloodshot eyes, coal black bodies and dog heads.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;\">\n<span style=\"background-color: white;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;\">\n<span style=\"background-color: white;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;\">\n<span style=\"background-color: white;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Today the Furies remain a source of inspiration and legend.
